Mexico City. Jan 11 2025.
ABB FIA Formula E celebrated its second round of season 11 in the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez; the iconic house of the Foro Sol (now GNP Stadium) that legendary former baseball Stadium that surrounds turn 13, 14 and 15 of the track, and in which atendees charge racing drivers with their explosive, loud and passionate cheering.
This weekend, the british driver Oliver Rowland, from Yorkshire UK, had contradicted the statement that says Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is the house of Porsche as manufacturer.

Jake Dennis (from Tag Heuer Porsche’s customer team Andretti) and Pascal Wehrlein (from Tag Heuer Porsche) took the México E-Prix win in previous seasons 9 and 10, while Oliver Rowland finished in 13 and 11 place respectevely.
This time, taking the best out of his unique rapport with the Nissan Nismo machinery, Oliver Rowland made no mistake and rode every chance to finish first in a flawless, althought dramatic, race that almost leaves his car without any energy to cross the line.
“You’re always hopeful of having a good weekend. Ever since we’ve got this package, we’ve done the testing, we felt like we made a good step forward, but I’m the type of guy that’s always doubting this things […] I’m constantly doubting the fact that maybe I’m not good enough, maybe the car is not good enough […] honestly I wouldn’t say it was smooth sailing […] we had a quick car, not the quickest car, but we were able to hang in there and pick up the result in the end, and that was the most important” – Oliver Rowland. With that heroic display of talent, Oliver confirms once more that nothing can be taken for granted in the most unpredictable and competitive Motorsports series: the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
The statement left to confirm though, is the one that says whoever wins the Mexico City E-Prix will win the Championship at the end, just like Dennis and Wehrlein did in 2023 and 2024.

Meanwhile, the team Tag Heuer Porsche was able to take the lead of the drivers Championship with Antonio Félix da Costa finishing 2nd once more, just like he did in São Paulo, back in December of 2024 when the first round of season 11 was celebrated.
The following round (#3) will ocurr in the Arab land of Jedda, next February 14th, and as a new track being introduced to the category, it’s expected to bring even more surprises and thrill to the current 11th season.
